Good Morning, Families!
It is 48 degrees as I type this. When I arrived at school at 7:15 this morning it was 41 degrees. I am asking you, please, to be sure and send your children to school with jackets. They come in from being outside with red skin and runny noses. I realize that it does warm up as the day goes on, but I think cold temps will be with us at least for the rest of this week!
Several of our classroom family members are coming to school with coughs, lots of sneezing, and watery eyes. Today, we have 3 students out and at least 4 that really shouldn't be at school when they are feeling as they are. Sending your child to school when they are sick prolongs their illness and infects others. Classwork can be balanced and made up. Please try to keep sick children at home so they can rest.
Scientist of the Week updates!
~Carissa delighted us all by making a homemade lava lamp!
~Amelie demonstrated that water heavy in salt can actually cause an egg to float!
~Ariel showed us that liquid soap can break up fats by just touching it. The pretty designs her demonstration made were exciting!
All of the presentations have been met with eagerness and excitement. Thank you, families, for helping your children become more and more interested and excited about their world and science!
Keep warm, keep well!
Michelle
