My Dear Families,
I want to apologize for the delay in an update. The holidays can be to blame a bit BUT, the main reason is an issue with this website. However, because of the delay, this particular update will be full of information and appreciation. So, sit back, relax, and spend a moment with me!
* Christmas Party: a very special thank you to the home parent team organized by Aimee Leukert for putting together and orchestrating our Christmas party! We had a wonderful time and the students loved their stockings!
* Cold and flu season: Please, if at all possible, keep your son or daughter home when they are sick. "Sick" includes; fever, sever coughing, vomiting. I know it is not easy to find care at home but sick children need to be home to rest, to get well, and to not spread the bug. Also, as per school policy, a fever must be gone for 24 hours before child returns. We have had a ton of illness in the classroom this year.
*My birthday celebration: Never, in all my years, have I had a more special classroom birthday than you all gave me this year. The surprise, love, gifts, and fun were over-the-top. Thank you, thank you! I am deeply grateful for your show of love and support!
*Scientist of the Week: We have had seven wonderful presentations! The students are doing a fabulous job. Post with up-to-date pics to come!
*Presidents' Day: Monday, February 20, is no school
*Lego Land: We will be going to Lego Land on Wednesday, March 22! More info to come!
*Math-in-a-Flash: we, as 2nd grade, have been informed by Administration that we are to take off the option of multiplication and division for our level. Also, we are now doing "fill in" rather than multiple choice for the answers. We are focusing on achieving adding and subtracting in 1 minute for each level.
*Laptop Cart! We are very excited to share that a very generous parent donated a cart that holds 30 laptops and can be moved from room to room for grades 1-3. We will be using it regularly for Math Facts, AR tests, and other technology activities. I will begin using it with my classroom next Monday. We are all very excited!
I will close this update as it is getting pretty lengthy.
My Best,
Michelle
