Good Evening Families,
I am still coughing and my voice is still not at full strength, however, today one of my students assured me that it was "strong enough". Hah!
What a wonderful day we had at The Living Desert yesterday! A very special thank you to those of you that were able to join us. Your driving, supervision, and care of the students is so very much appreciated! How did I get such a wonderful group of families? Thank you!
A few FYI items:
~ March 1 - Inservice Day for Teachers. NO SCHOOL (this was added by the Pacific Union, recently.)
~ March 2 - On-campus afternoon inservice for LLA teachers - MINIMUM DAY, we will dismiss at noon.
~ March 10 - Field trip to Lego Land, full day. More information forthcoming.
~ March 21-25 - Spring Break
~ March 28 - April 1 - Week of Prayer
We just started Chapter 6 in Math. We will be learning how to add and subtract 3-digit numbers. The students did very well on the first lesson today!
Please remember to spend some time having your student read, aloud, to you. This is so helpful as most of them will subconsciously skip over an unfamiliar word if they are reading to themselves. If they read aloud to you, you are able to help them figure it out. While the goal is to have them be independent, silent readers, reading aloud now and then is a valuable task!
Enjoy your evening, hug your child, and ask questions about their day (not yes or no questions). Verbal communication is also very important. Ask who they like to play with and why or what they want to be when they grow up and why. The "and why" is key. Perhaps what made them laugh today! (if they say, "nothing"... make them laugh!)
My Best,
Michelle
